Being big fans of both fancy shoes and fashion exhibitions here at Grazia Daily, we are very excited to announce a few further details of the Christian Louboutin exhibition at the Design Museum in London  . . . which is coming up in March next year.
The exhibition dedicated to Louboutin’s creations, entitled ‘Christian Louboutin’ is the first UK retrospective of the iconic French shoe designer, and will explore ‘20 years of shoe design and inspiration,’ the museum said. Themes within the show will include spotlights on shoes inspired by everything from ‘fantasy and fairy tale’ through to ‘landscape and travel.’

The exhibition will take in various elements of the infamous brand. As well as the fashion element, there will be a great emphasis on the design point of view (well, it is the Design Museum) which will constitute a unique exploration of Louboutin’s design process. It will take the visitor through every stage of the design journey, revealing how a shoe is constructed, from the initial drawing and first prototype through to production in the factory. Looking beyond design and production the exhibition will also explore the company’s innovative store design – how fab!

It will also highlight some of the very interesting collaborations that Louboutin has participated in over the years. Like his project with avant-garde film director David Lynch of Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive, who also works as a photographer - a Paris exhibition called ‘Fetish’ in 2007, which featured images shot by David Lynch of a number of one-off designs fashioned by Louboutin. Or, the like of some glorious images from the Christian Louboutin coffee table book shot by Philippe Garcia – which is out now, fashion fans!
We’ll also be reminded of M. Louboutin’s illustrious career – his time working for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the early days, as well as working in theatre and all in time for his 20th anniversary, which is coming up.
